The Gamaya team has taken an instrumental part in the second expedition of the Leman-Baikal project to Lake Baikal in the southern Siberia during the months of July and August of 2014. The Leman-Baikal project is an international Swiss-Russian collaborative research initiative in the field of physical limnology. The three-year framework involves the development and deployment of a novel multispectral and hyperspectral remote sensing platform optimized for the sensing of land and water surfaces from an ultralight aircraft. The airborne hyperspectral surveying campaign covered the area of 2,000 sq. km and resulted in the mapping of the entire surface of the Selenga river delta on lake Baikal.

An AirCreation Tanarg ultralight aircraft was used as the main airborne data acquisition platform.

An extensive testing of the Gamaya HSI sensors has been carried out in challenging field conditions.
